Agnes Ardanuy

I am a post-doctoral Ramon Areces fellow studying on ectomycorrhizal-tree interactions. My current research is focused on the benefits of ectomycorrhiza specialization on tree growth and defence against herbivory. Historically, the nutritional perspective of tree-mycorrhiza interactions has dominated research due to their important contribution to growth and CNP cycling, but recent evidence shows that this mutualistic relationship could be key in shaping tree tolerance to biotic stress. To better understand the mechanisms involved in tree tolerance to biotic stress mediated by mycorrhiza, I combine multiple research disciplines including plant physiology, microbiology, entomology, ecology and evolution.
